Many people using homelessness services have experienced complex trauma. Understanding trauma can ensure that you can adapt your approach and provide the right support
Strengths-based practice can help people rebuild their lives following homelessness, multiple disadvantage and trauma. This course will help you to implement truly strengths-based practice with simple and creative tools which can transform people’s experience of your support.
Simple changes can improve the way services feel to live in, to use and to work in. Focussing on the physical environment, the relationships and the processes within your service, this course can change the way you think about your role, and give people the best possible experience of your service.
This course will enable you to get the best from your team, helping them to feel motivated and empowered. You will be able to choose appropriate tools and methods to tackle performance problems effectively. We will identify methods to maintain team cohesion and wellbeing working from home and hybrid working as well as managing a team working together in person
If we can understand how and why people make changes in their lives, we can provide support which helps the change process. We will discuss a range of change theories, and practice motivational interviewing and other techniques to support people to make sustainable changes.
Housing First is an exciting and effective model of support to resolve long-term homelessness. We will discuss why this model works, learn about the principles, and some of the key practice issues and strategies to deliver a successful Housing First service.
